When to Call

When is it time to call the doctor? As a parent, you probably ask yourself this question at least once a week. The answer is simple, if your child is feeling sick or hurt or has a fever and you’re not sure what to do, don’t be afraid to pick up the phone. Sometimes it helps to get an expert opinion to be safe. Your parental instincts are usually right.

Be sure to call us if your child:

  • Is abnormally fussy, sleepy, cranky, or quiet
  • Looks very sick
  • Has a fever that will not drop or develops other serious symptoms
  • Has a fever for more than three days
  • Is younger than 3 months old and has a temperature above 100° F
  • Is 3 to 6 months old and has a temperature above 101° F
  • Is 6 to 12 months and has a temperature above 103° F
  • Has a stiff neck
  • Has trouble breathing
  • Suffers from ear or sore throat pain
  • Has a seizure
  • Has a serious skin rash
  • Cries inconsolably
  • Is difficult to awaken

If you ever feel your child is in immediate, life-threatening danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Help us keep your child healthy and growing strong.
